Pygmalion Sonata Figural Grand Piano Form Powder Compact Circa 1954

Offered for your consideration is this whimsical Sonata powder compact which was first launched in 1953 by the British company of Pygmalion. This compact is in the form of a grand piano and measures 6 cm by 7 cm across the lid and is 3.5 cm in height. The lid has wonderful machine turned pattern with scroll work pattern to the sides and with blank oblong cartouche on the lid. The lid has firm hinge and secure catch and opens to reveal a clear and reflective glued glass mirror under the lid. Marked to the inside Pygmalion Made in England and with a small inner door to the powder well and retains the branded puff and original sifter. The legs on the underside of the case fold down for storage. This powder compact is offered in very good pre-used condition with no dents or dings to the case, some minor surface scratches and no discolouration to the gold tone metal.
