Description
Stunning original watercolour by French artist Eugène Galien-Laloue. This painting comes from the Uriarte y Piñeiro Collection. It was bequeathed to the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Buenos Aires on Laloue’s death. It was returned to the family in 1991. It is signed E. Galien-Laloue at the lower left. Very small areas of toning.
It is to be included in the second volume of the Galien-Laloue Catalogue Raisonné being prepared by French Art Expert, M Noë Willer. His first volume, Le Triomphe de Paris, was published in 1999.

Laloue was a renowned painted of crowded Paris street scenes, most frequently in oils and gouache. He died in 1941, having painted Paris for 50 years. Laloue married three sisters, one after the other, beginning with the youngest and ending with the oldest.
