History about Tiffany & Co and its collaborations
The collaboration between Patek Philippe and Tiffany & Co. began in 1849 when Tiffany & Co. started buying watches from the esteemed Swiss maker. This partnership was pivotal in introducing Patek Philippe timepieces to the American market, as Tiffany & Co. began showcasing these luxurious watches in 1851. This alliance leveraged the strengths of both companies: Tiffany & Co.'s notable presence in the luxury sector and Patek Philippe's celebrated expertise in watchmaking. Over time, this relationship has led to the creation of exclusive watches featuring both brands, highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, symbolizing a blend of American luxury and Swiss horological mastery.
In 1907, Tiffany & Co. began crafting jewellery designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany, the founder's son. When Walter Hoving took over in 1955, he brought in prominent designers such as Jean Schlumberger and Donald Claflin. In 1974, Elsa Peretti joined, followed by Paloma Picasso. After acquiring Tiffany in 1979, Avon Products saw a management buyout led by William R. Chaney in 1984, along with a successful public stock offering in 1987, allowing expansion into significant domestic and international markets. By 1996, Tiffany & Co. had inaugurated its 39th store in Japan's esteemed Ginza district.
