Red & Silver Vintage Stratton Compact Mirror

A wonderful unused 1950s Stratton souvenir powder compact which was made to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. The lid is adorned with garnet red enamel. Finely depicted representations of St. Edward's crown which was worn by Queen Elizabeth II at her coronation in 1953, a Yeoman Warder, Westminster Abbey, London Bridge, Piccadilly, a London theatre, St Paul's Cathedral and the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain are shown in silver enamel. The whole compact is in excellent condition. The mirror gives an accurate reflection. The catches and hinges work well. This lovely compact is suitable for loose foundation, as a handbag mirror or cherished collectible. The original box, pouch, guarantee rosette, puff and sifter are present. The compact is signed Stratton on the inner lid and mirror bezel. The makers lacquered this accessory and so it will not tarnish.
