Regency Faux Bamboo Painted Chair

Fine example of a Regency faux bamboo chair. Stunning design showing off the skill and importance of creating a special piece of occasional furniture. The detail of the faux bamboo is quite exceptional. The sunburst arched back support with spherical finials links the upright rails and finials that form the legs and back is beautifully finished. The seat is nicely made with a rattan construction which unusually is wrapped around the seat frame and bedded in with beading on top and underneath in two sections for additional strength.  The solid hardwood frame (possibly walnut) has eight cross stretchers, plain to the sides and back then they match the rest of the chairs faux bamboo design, with an additional sunburst design to the front. The whole chair has a scumble type wash all over the frame adding to what is a lovely decorative chair. Very well constructed, good solid joints with no damage or losses. Quite remarkable for its age circa 1800-1820. Period: Regency Period 1811-1820 Material: Hardwood (possibly walnut), and paint. Therefore, you will see signs of ageing, natural wear, fading & marks which create their unique look. Overall the condition is good and the condition is commensurate with its age.
