This is an imposing toleware wall clock dating from the mid 19th Century, in the form of a pocket watch. The good quality movement is by the renowned French Japy Freres company and is stamped with the “medale d’honneur” from the 1855 Paris Exposition. The clock is octagonal in form with a dished shape to the toleware case which has been attractively repainted in a beautiful warm, aged red shade. This has been very well done and suits the clock well. It has twin holed white enamelled dial and tooled gilt bronze bezel to the face and is complete with circular brass hanging loop. This is in good running order with original pendulum and key and it strikes a lovely tone on a bell on the hour and half hour. The clock measures 40 cms by 31 cms.
