Royal Doulton c1920, Islamic Series, "Iznik" Style Plate D3088

Offered for sale is a stunning large Royal Doulton transfer "Islamic Series Ware" plate, Persian Pattern D3088. This beautiful 'Islamic" series was in circulation around 1902-1922. It is decorated with an overall Persian pattern of flowers, leaves, scrolls and geometric lines against a striking background. The under-glaze has strong tones of cobalt blue, dusty rose, yellow and green. The D3088 pattern was first created in 1909. The impressed date mark is for August 1920. Henry and James Doulton purchased an interest in Pinder, Bourne & Co., in 1877. In 1882 the business was reconstituted under the name Doulton & Co., Burslem. The business was incorporated in 1899 as Doulton & Co. and Doulton was granted a Royal Warrant and right to use ‘Royal’ in the name of its products by King Edward VII in 1901.
