This elegant silver brooch is in the form of a dragonfly with open wings. The wings and lower body are decorated in stunning blue, with a green enamelled upper body. The wings have detailed veining with black over-enamel detail. The eyes are also black enamel and the segmented body and antenna add further detailing.
Dragonflies, butterflies and other insects were very popular themes for jewellery in late Victorian/Edwardian times and into the early 20th Century. This lovely brooch is fully hallmarked and a good sized example. The pin is fastened with a 'C' clasp.
