This ladys antique silver mug is fitted with an impressive tooled decorated S scroll handle.
The underside of the mug is ornamented with the contemporary engraved inscription: 'The Gift of Mrs Hourman at the age of eighty eight to her Great Grandson Edwd John Fisher, Novr 3 1790'.

This impressive antique silver mug was crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Henry Chawner.
Such small Georgian tankards are becoming increasingly difficult to locate; period tankards of this size would have been crafted for a lady.
* Patination or Patina is a subtle colouration or tarnish which forms on the surface of some metals, produced by oxidation or other chemical processes. A good patina proffers an aesthetically pleasing look.
