Description
An outstanding medieval posy ring with rectangular section hoop, bears the inscription: '+ Etib II N I Tamor' in Roman/Lombardic capitals on the exterior hoop. The inscription is punctuated with a number of patterns incorporating dots, a swirl and a double V (a small v sitting within a larger V) so it appears as + . Et.Ib . II : vV . N : ~ : I : Tamor.
The inscription has been partially deciphered and may read: “And to you I love you”.
Circa Ad 1200-1500, the band is misshapen but is still in fully wearable condition, with usual marks commensurate with age.
