Description
An attractive mid 20th century tile wall art piece. This is signed J. Belarti and shows a Harlequin style clown figure playing a mandolin.
- J. Belarti is a design brand known as Juliette Belarti about whom little is known, but who may not actually be an individual, but instead a Belgian Artists group, perhaps involving the Belgian ceramicist Julien de Covemaeker.
- Belarti are known for tiled top tables with colourful designs as well as this form of wall art.
- The tiles are mounted on painted black wood, which is framed in a strong and heavy black iron frame, with a hanging strut and bracket at the back.
- The figure is made up of five square tiles and shows a harlequin style musician with a mandolin, in black and white clothes with a blue background.
This will look fabulous in a mid century interior, perhaps complementing a tile top table by the same design team.
