Description
Discover the mystery behind the half-finished painting and unlock the secrets of the artist's creative process.
This is the nice companion piece to the other oil on canvas 'Triptych Oil On Canvas Painting Of Fruit' By F Ferron, available separately. Created in the same style of a 'half finished painting', allowing you to explore the linking between the fruits, exposed open weave linen canvas, and texture the artist has successfully managed to create.
I just love the rough edges of the square and rectangular block areas, blending nicely into the linen canvas. The tones marry charmingly with the off white inner frame border and gilt edging. The artist has framed the oil painting in the same matching frame with linear and foliate markings.
What makes this piece even more interesting, is the use of different styles in the form of, fruits, typographical print, numerals and stamped documents or tickets.
The technique of 'unfinished' or 'partially completed' paintings is fascinating, here is a little back story on the methodology...
An oil painting where only part of the canvas is painted is called an "unfinished" or "partially completed" painting. Alternatively, it could also be referred to as a "partial painting" or "half-finished painting."
Sometimes artists intentionally leave parts of a canvas unfinished to create a sense of movement or to draw attention to specific areas of the painting. This technique is known as "implied space" or "implied motion."
Signed on reverso Ferron 99 and also paint Ff on the centre panel. Provenance label on the back: Sibman Gallery, France.
