Unique Georgian Mahogany Childs / Invalids Stair Lift Chair c.1800

Unique and amazing Georgian mahogany invalids stair lift (carrier). This amazing piece of furniture has obviously been made to transport an invalid, possibly a child up and down the stairs carried at either end. It has been made so it sits upright on the stairs whilst the invalid is put on the seat and then it can be lifted from either end and carried up or down the stairs whilst the invalid remains upright. I have never seen anything quite like it before and it has been extremely well made. The upholstery is red Swede which has probably been done at the beginning of the 20th century. It is rather hard to picture especially as I don't have any stairs in the shop to display it properly but I have pictured it as best I can.
