Description
Unusual vintage mid century dresser unit made in Czechoslovakia, as far as we know, probably in the 1950s though possibly later. It's made from pitch pine, with flat parts being blockboard, veneered with pitch pine. Somewhat insane design: after initial repulsion I have become more and more attached to it. Not that you should care about my personal taste but anyway; in this case I felt compelled to share..it has a double curved top, for a start. Then it has intricately shaped sides with moulded front edges, in a sort of european folk baroque style. There are three doors, whose tops follow the roof curves, but are otherwise curiously plain. Working locks and keys; adjustable shelves inside. Below that is a three drawer section, much lower than sideboard height; the drawers having twisted iron ring handles. At the base is a rail, refectory table style, which appears to protrude through the sides where a wedge keeps it tight (I think those bits are just decorative though). Overall, I suppose it's an Eastern European version of Old Charm furniture: a mid century re-telling of a folksy past,
There's a matching small sideboard on here too.

condition
condition
Condition is pretty good: structurally solid; cosmetically there are some dings and chips, small marks etc, a cup ring on the base but generally not bad. The top separates from the drawer section for transport.
