Description
A good example of an antique metal strong box dating from the late 19th / early 20th Century. It has its original black painted finish and brass plaque engraved "R.F.Peel Esq. Coldstream Guards".
The Coldstream Guards is the oldest continuously serving regiment in the Army, with origins that date back to the English Civil War. Since then, it has answered the call of duty at almost every conflict with British involvement, earning a well-deserved reputation for loyalty and courage.
The box has a brass carrying handle and a latch at the front to allow a padlock to be fitted.
The box is in good condition for its age and has a lovely worn and aged patina. There are no major damages, however there are various surface scratches, marks, paint loss and small dinks but overall it displays very nicely and the inside is clean and tidy.
The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
