Description
A most unusual Victorian brooch featuring silver and coral flower buds. The main body of this charming example is a chalcedony oval panel, with bevelled edges. The front is decorated with silver flower buds, each set with natural coral. To the reverse is a rectangular silver panel, set with the pin, secured by a 'C' clasp. The Victorians used flowers in many art forms and jewellery was a particular favourite. A lovely and rather scarce example, still wearable today. Unmarked but tests as silver.
