A good solid Late Victorian tin traveling trunk with a black lacquered finish and clasped beech protective strappings to all sides. Internally it has it's an original coppered finish which is unusual. The hinges and leather straps are many later additions but ensure that its original purpose is unaffected. There is still a port of label for the Cunard Line with the printed name Dr. W.S. CRAWFORD, SHIP SYLVAN CLASS - T SAILING FROM HALIFAX TO S'HAMPTON. EUROPEAN ADDRESS - 3 THE CROFT, PARK HILL EARLING W5. An unusual trunk with great character and a little history that could possibly be investigated in greater depth. Ideal as a decorative storage piece or coffee table. All very solid and ready to use.
