This is a stunning, fine and impressive large 2.75 carat diamond, 0.87 carat ruby, 0.08 carat sapphire and onyx, 18 carat yellow gold and silver set brooch in the form of a scarab beetle; part of our gemstone jewellery and estate jewelry collections
This stunning, fine and impressive vintage brooch has been crafted in 18ct yellow gold with silver settings.
The large brooch has been modelled in the form of a scarab beetle.
The body of the beetle is represented by an impressive onyx featuring a fluted design.
The lower, curvilinear shaped border of the onyx panel is encompassed with a silver setting embellished with forty-five Dutch cut diamonds.
A pierced decorated fanning design overlays the upper portion of the onyx panel, ornamented with thirty-two further Dutch cut diamonds.
The beetle's thorax is accented to the centre with an elevated collet set cabochon cut ruby, encompassed by ten pavé set diamonds.
Each of the beetle's eight legs features a single collet set round faceted cut ruby, in addition to a single pavé set Dutch cut diamond.
The scarab beetle's head features a textured finish, with two collet set round faceted cut sapphires representing the eyes.
A millegrain decorated setting on the beetle's head features three pavé set diamonds, accented with four further diamonds to the pincers.
The brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged double pin and clasps.
The brooch is hallmarked to the reverse of one of the insect's legs with an 18ct gold fineness mark (18K).
This impressive vintage scarab beetle brooch has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton Xl2 Analyzer) and verified as 18 carat gold and silver.
