Walking Stick Cane Hallmarked Solid Silver Pommel Snakewood Shaft c.1900

Stunning Continental snakewood and stamped silver crook top walking stick or cane. The handle to the top is silver, stamped with the Belgium mark for 800 grade silver. The second mark would be the maker but I haven't been able to identify them. Floral repousse decorated flowers to the silver handle above the shaft which is snakewood. The patination in the wood is excellent, the pictures don't do it justice. This is a rare to find wood and is strong enough to support a good weight. If you can find a new snakewood cane today they are retailed for as much as £1000. Quite dark in colour the markings in the wood show better in natural light. The period ferrule is original and made of polished black buffalo horn. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
