This stunning George I walnut bureau bookcase having a swan neck pediment, with fine cross cut mouldings and herringbone inlays.
The top bookcase section with plate glass mirrors, reveals behind, a large top section for manuscripts, pigeon holes under, adjustable upright sections with the finest walnut lined drawers under. The bookcase has an adjustable cabinet behind the mirror doors which are inside with gold gilt Corinthian columns, engraved hinges and escutcheons.
The centre of the bookcase which is the bureau has eight pigeon holes with very fine walnut lined herringbone inlaid drawers, large cupboard behind mirror door, pull out column and has a very rare large secret compartment this also has pull out candle slides.
The lower section of the bookcase has three small drawers, two medium and two large drawers all with cross cut mouldings and herringbone inlay, gold gilt swan neck handles standing on bracket feet. The bureau has its original keys and locks.
This bookcase is in spectacular condition and has the original paper to the back.
