Description
Gents Rotary 9ct gold wrist watch, 1972.
The watch has a Swiss 17-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. In the photo of the movement, there are two empty retaining screw holes… these screws are not required as the movement is designed to be held in place by the shaped case back. The movement is signed with the Rotary wings logo.
The watch measures 33mm wide excluding the winding crown and 32.5mm high excluding the lugs. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London 1972, with a sponsor’s mark of Sd for Sylvain Dreyfuss.
Rotary Watches Ltd was established at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, by Moise Dreyfuss in 1895. By the 1920s family members Georges and Sylvain Dreyfuss began importing Rotary watches to Britain, which was to become the company's most successful market.
The case is in lovely condition, as is the lens.
The signed dial is in good condition, a textured effect with graduated finished. Date display, not quickset.
A later leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the red 'Buy Now' button on each listing page.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
