Description
Gents Leave & Co silver Art Deco style wrist watch.
UK Postage Only For This Item
The watch has a 17-jewel Eta movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Golana and it also has their logo. Golana Uhren Ag of Biel in Switzerland used this logo from 1960 until 2003.
Gleave & Co are well known for being suppliers of watch and clock parts but they also produced and sold their own brand watches. These watches were assembled in their premises in Clerkenwell, London. This particular watch may well have been a one off special order or a prototype as we can find no other examples.
The watch measures 27mm wide excluding the winding crown and 40mm high excluding the lugs with spring bars. The case is silver, and it is heavy, and there are hallmarks on the back of the watch for London 1993. The case is in lovely condition, perhaps just the slightest hint of a little unevenness to the back.
The convex lens is in lovely condition.
The dial is signed Gleave & Co, and the numbers are very Art Deco in style.
The watch comes on a Hirsch leather strap which could be the original.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
All prices include UK postage (excluding Northern Ireland)... no international postage for this item.
All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the red 'Buy Now' button on each listing page.
We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
