It was rare for Heytman to do a still life. 70 x 50 cm Image only It would not be too far fetched to say that painting is in William Heytman’s blood, being a descendant of the "Dutch Frenchman" J.B. Jongkind (1819 – 1891). Shortly after leaving school, Heytman started experimenting with pastels watercolours whilst choosing to concentrate later on oil in particular. He held his first exhibition in 1976 in Middleburg, Zeeland, the Dutch province that has remained his home since. Apart from the lessons taken from the Dutch painter J.W. Heijting, Heytman is very much a self taught artist known for innovating and improving on his style through colour, composition and a bold subject matter. Having painted for over twenty years Heytman has irrefutably carved a niche for himself in the world of contemporary Dutch painting. His established reputation and inarguable talent make his paintings not only of high calibre, but furthermore a secure investment.
