Description
A William III shilling dated 1696. For a smaller coin of the early milled coinage it retains some excellent detail - particularly of the king. There are some obvious flaws and areas of damage including the scrape across the King's face. The edge milling appears to be intact all the way around. There appears to be some rough wear on both sides of the coin in one area around the date and corresponding on the other side at the bottom of the King's bust.
declaration
Hughes-Browne has clarified that the William III - 1696 Silver Shilling (LA526987) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1696
