Description
A brass door safety chain by William Tonks of Birmingham. Original patination. Rare and of an ingenious design with the deadbolt and safety chain attachment using the same external keep. The bolt has cross shaped riveted spring steel to hold it in place tightly and prevent it being easily moved by intruders.
The chain itself is locked in place using a push spring button which has to be pressed in from the inside before it will release the chain. The spring release button prevents the door being partly opened and the chain being slid along the slide and releasing the chain.
