Wood & Sons "Woods Ware" Fruit Bowl in Silver Plated Holder

Offered for sale is an unusual Wood & Sons "Woods Ware" fruit bowl in a silver plated holder. Decorated in the "Wincanton" pattern with its hues of orange, blue and green, it gives more than a nod to the popular Mason's Ironstone patterns. The back stamp was used from 1917 up to 1929. For considerably over two centuries the Wood family of Burslem has been in the forefront of those who are memorable in ceramic history starting early in the eighteenth century, with three brothers, Ralph, Aaron and Moses Wood.
