WWII Interest. Unusual Edwardian Sterling Silver Ribbed Cigarette / Cigar Case 1905

An unusual Edwardian silver ribbed cigarette/ small cigar case with 4 internal compartments, hallmarked for Birmingham 1905 by maker A.B (unknown), in original leather case. Of plain ribbed form externally and no engraving or initials. Inside reveals a gilded interior and 2 moveable plates to ,I presume, fill with more cigarettes or cigars. It has 2 later engravings on the 2 plates:- Diplomat Reg'd 474151 May the best of your past be the worst of the future Oct 15th 1945 This could be of Wwii interest. Measuring 6.5cm wide and 10cm high and weighs 103 grams In good used antique condition, there are a couple of dings to the exterior and one of the internal plates has been bent upwards. Hallmarks are clear. The plates are original, they have the same date letter stamped on them as the box.
