The Cotswold School of furniture was formed at the end of the 19th Century as an informal crafts-based group between Ernest Gimson and brothers Edward & Sydney Barnsley. Focussed on honest hand-constructed furniture using local resources and non-mechanised tools, their pieces had a unique look and their approach became extremely influential within the Arts & Crafts community. The style would embrace craftsmen and women across the United Kingdom, but the term Cotswold School is often used to refer to well constructed pieces inspired by these three friends. At LoveAntiques.com we have a good range of antique and vintage furniture in the Cotswold School tradition, all offered by trusted and knowledgeable dealers.
