Wilmot Pilsbury RBSA RWS (1840-1908) was a landscape and figure painter who was born in Dorking, Surrey. Headmaster Leicester School of Art; Exhibited mainly at RWS(250) and the Fine Art Society(68) but also RA and elsewhere. A memorial exhibition of his work was held at the Fine Art Society in 1908, about which a critic wrote that’ Since he was elected a member of the Royal Watercolour Society, his style has gradually formed; by careful study of nature he got that knowledge of her varied moods and mysteries of colour that his later work expressed with such charming simplicity, with dexterous technique it gives the impression of nature’s ever varying and inimitable charm of colour (Dorking & Leatherhead Advertiser 1908).
