As antique experts, we deal with great works of art on a regular basis. Part of the fascination for many collectors is the way antique work stands up to modern-day scrutiny.

Heading towards Christmas and for a bit of fun, we at LoveAntiques.com, the antique furniture specialists, have had classically-trained artists recreate iconic portraits from history but with a modern day twist. We wanted to take the most recognisable faces from the past and give them a 21st century update using their modern day equals, fusing the past and the present in beautifully created masterpieces.

In the 1500s Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa was the most recognisable face in the world. Today Keeping Up with the Kardashians has made Kim Kardashian and her constant ‘selfies’ just as famous as the Louvre’s pride and joy and because of that, this version of the most famous portrait ever seemed very fitting:

Our reimagining of these portraits is not just a commentary on popular culture, but also for a great cause. 

The originals are already packed up and on their way to Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West, where we hope they’ll take pride of place in the family home they decide upon to replace the $20m Bel Air mansion they’re currently selling.
