19th Century Tyrol Sterzing Horn Snuff Box

19th Century Austrian Tyrol Sterzing trefoil heart-shaped horn snuff box with engraved scrimshaw decoration on all external surfaces, engraved in black, red, and brown with the crowned eagle emblem from the Tyrol coat-of-arms on the lid. The remaining surfaces have freely-engraved stylised flowers. Engraved horn snuff boxes are often attributed to Tyrolean origins but here is one that confirms that origin, having been engraved with the eagle from the Tyrolean coat of arms. We wondered whether the outer surfaces were bone, being white, but we think the whiteness comes from the part of the horn used. Please see the close up images.
