Description
A heavy, mid-19th century solid ebony (ebonized base) Indian box beautifully carved to all sides with decorative flower heads, scrolling tendrils and leaves in low relief. In very good overall original condition save for some very minor marks of age (please see images), the box retains its original lozenge shaped escutcheon, interior lock and hinges and is lined with old green velvet which is also replicated underneath the base. Measuring 14 cm wide, 11.25 cm deep and 7 cm high, this is a very good example of the 19th century Indian carver's art.
