Description
A well carved and patinated Inuit soapstone carving modelled as a seal hunter holding a seal vertically before him, clearly seen are the seal's head, a flipper and the tail resting upon the rock where the hunched hunter stands. Probably mid-20th Century, the carving is in very good overall condition with just a few minor chips and blemishes commensurate with age (nothing detrimental, please see images posted). The carving is heavy in the hand and is 15.5 cm high and is around 11 cm at the deepest point. A nice and poigniant example of the Inuit carver's art.
