Description
This is a beautiful Antique Solid Silver Inkwell from the early 1920s. It’s a smaller size inkwell, perfect for sitting on a desk and using for calligraphy.
It comes in a gift bag and would be a great present.
The makers marks are on the side and it was made by J & R Griffin and it was Hallmarked in Chester in 1921.
The inkwell is capstan shaped and made of Sterling Silver. It has Od engraved elaborately on the lid. The hinge for the lid works well and it lifts to show a plastic liner to hold ink. It has a wooden base.
It’s in very good condition. The Silver is shiny with a little tarnish and the odd tiny dent. It would be a great present for someone who enjoys calligraphy.
It is filled and it weighs 59g. It’s a smaller size inkwell, measuring 7cm diameter (just over 2 5/8 inches) with a height of 3.5cm (1 3/8 inches).
