Description
Antique Rosewood Breakfront Bookcase / Display Cabinet.
This is a superb Rosewood Cabinet of exceptional quality. It dates to Regency -
Early Victorian period, about 1830- 1840
It is beautifully proportioned, of medium height. It stands just over 5 feet tall, a perfect height for display case viewing, and the 3 full length glazed doors, without glazing bars, ensure that pieces can be displayed well and seen clearly.
It has a wide and deep central section and narrower side compartments to either side. Each of these are fitted with fully adjustable shelves. The photos are shown here with 3 shelves to each compartment, and there are 3 further shelves also. They are all original and faced in solid rosewood.
There are 3 deep drawers below, each with their original dovetailed pine linings and turned rosewood knobs.
The breakfront cornice, being at eye level, is flat topped and beautifully finished in polished rosewood with a fine cross grained rounded edge border. It can be used for display also.
The case dismantles easily for transportation. The cornice lifts off, and the doors lift out on their pin hinges. The side sections can be unscrewed and removed if necessary.
