Antique Georgian Solid Silver Etui Needle Case - Taylor & Perry 1830

We are delighted to offer this wonderful Georgian solid silver etui/needle case with the marks of Taylor & Perry, Birmingham 1830. The small proportions and shape are quite charming and modest, yet the level of intricacy and embellishments are quite the contrary. The entirety of the case is ornately embossed, chased and engraved with splendid Georgian floral and scroll motifs. This, in addition to its age and patina, creates a wonderful contrasted look. The lid is secured by a sprung hinge and a push button on the side. This is still functional however it has weakened over the years and if the lid is pulled with some force, it will also open without the use of the button. A lovely small collectable yet exemplary etui of the late Georgian period - ideal for storing sewing equipage or small items.
