This is a magnificent, fine and impressive antique silver sugar box modelled in the form of a dog; part of our collection of silver animal sugar boxes. This magnificent, fine and impressive antique cast silver sugar box has been realistically modelled in form of a dog*. The silver box is embellished with fine details reproducing the dog's coat and anatomical features. This exceptional and large antique silver dog sugar box is fitted with the original push fit head/cover. The underside of this German silver box features an impressive finely engraved coat of arms with lion supporters, bearing the date '1657'. Such large examples in this exceptional quality and condition are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. * With the nature of the short snout and long coat, it has been determined this dog replicates the features of a spaniel; however, there are other variants which may be applicable.
