Description
This is a superb large country house chest of drawers which dates to the Regency period.
Made of cross banded and strung mahogany it is a quality piece which is nicely made and elegantly styled.
The chest is fairly large and will provide an good amount of storage in any home, it is timeless and has a lot of character.
The front is fitted with five pine lined drawers which are finished with brass drop handles set on oval back plates and bone escutcheons. The drawers run well and the interiors are in clean condition.
The chest is set on tall swept bracket feet and the wood has a French polished finish which has a nice sheen.
The chest has been sympathetically restored over the years and has much character and a good sense of history.

The chest is generally in solid structural condition with many small cosmetic marks of age and use and various veneer patches and beading repairs here and there.
The drawers run fairly well for their age and the interiors are in clean condition having been stripped of their paper linings at some point in time. The top left hand drawer has some shrinkage splits to the base.
The top of the chest has various marks below the polished finish and one side panel has a filled shrinkage crack.
The drawer handles have been changed over the years to accommodate changing tastes.
