This is an exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver combination fruit knife/letter opener; an addition to our silver flatware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver combination fruit knife/letter opener has an elongated oval form. The surface of the rounded handle is embellished with fine bright cut engraved floral decoration, accented with birds in flight to the lower portion. The hinged blade of this antique silver letter opener/fruit knife pivots and is contained within the handle. This Victorian silver pocketknife is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and is in exceptional condition. The bright cut engraved decoration is all very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the handle, in addition to part hallmarks to either side of the concealing portion are very clear; the hallmarks are deeply struck due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Please see images 11 and 12. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this antique Victorian fruit knife in sterling silver.
