This is an exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver cow creamer; an addition to our 19th Century silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver creamer has been realistically modelled in the form of a cow. The plain body of this antique silver creamer is embellished with details reproducing the fine definition of the cow's facial and anatomical features. The jug is fitted with a hinged cover, surmounted with an impressive cast and applied finial realistically modelled in the form of a fly. This impressive Victorian silver cow creamer is fitted with a loop handle, modelled in the form of the cow's tail. The hallmarks to the underside and hind leg of this cow creamer include: Maker's mark: Sbl (Samuel Boyce (or Boaz) Landeck) British assay mark: Leopard head (London, England) Silver quality/purity mark: British lion passant mark, 930, Dutch lion rampant mark with 1st standard purity (minimum .934, 934/1000)* Export mark: Key mark intruding lion passant Additional mark: F (foreign manufacture mark) Such antique Dutch sterling silver examples are becoming increasingly difficult to locate. * The country of origin hallmarked this item with the standard mark 930/lion rampant mark and once imported into Britain the silver purity was tested and hallmarks struck reaffirming the silver is a minimum of sterling standard. This antique 19th century cow creamer is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The cast ornamentation is all very sharp. The hallmarks struck to the underside of the body and hind leg of the cow are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of Victorian silverware.
