Description
A good Chamberlain's porcelain dessert plate with shaped rim decorated in a dark Imari palette and gilt with the pattern that has become known as the jabberwocky after the poem by Lewis Carroll. In the Chamberlain records (reference Chamberlain-Worcester Porcelain, Godden), pattern number 1727 which is marked verso, is described as "Coburg..." (the shape) "...drab & blue border dragon gilt".
