In all likelihood they are from Chateau Kitchen in the Alsace region and are fantastic examples of French kitchen history. They are absolutely perfect for decorating a vintage style kitchen, cottage or farmhouse, and would make an absolutely delight gift for a dedicated cake baker. Traditionally known as "Moules a Patisserie" for baking Kugelhopf/Kugelhof/Kouglof/Gugelhupf which is a yeast based cake, traditionally baked in a distinctive circular Bundt mould and eaten for family breakfasts. It is popular in a wide region of Central Europe. The vividly bright, rich terracotta colour glaze on the interior contrast in such a fabulous way with the wonderfully aged patina of the natural earthenware exterior. The glaze not only made them beautiful but also functional, as it helped prevent the cake from sticking to the mould. They bear all the hallmarks of time, wear and countless cakes made!
