Subject Equine horse study portrait of a chestnut thoroughbred gelding hunter horse facing left in full side profile. The horse is standing in his stable, having a matching chestnut mane & tail also, with a. small white mark on his face & having 1 white hoof, with a white stripe on his front hoof. You can see golden brown straw on the stable floor, a partially wooden panelled stable back wall. The horse is looking directly at the viewer with his side eye. The details is so incredible of the horse with the muscle definition and the chestnut hue colour.
Set in a recently fitted Larson Julh gilt wood moulded frame which enhances this work even further, with hanging thread on the back ready for immediate home display.

Artist biography Charles Bilger Spalding RA (1810-1871) a listed known British artist who was born in the early 19th century in the year 1810. He specialised in painting sporting animals & hunting scenes, he was known to have exhibited at the Royal Academy. His works have been exhibited & sold at galleries and auction houses around the world, the highest sold price is for $26,214 US Dollars.

Condition report offered in fine used condition. Canvas is original unlined, the painting surface is in overall acceptable order, having various foxing stains & craquelure, also some paint loss and touch ups in areas. Also frame stretcher lines showing through on the canvas front. The frame has some imperfections commensurate with being handmade.
