Previously I worked in London as a Chartered Surveyor and have been dealing in paintings for thirty years. I have exhibited at at many major antique fairs and have vetted at them when required. I live in North Yorkshire but trade from Castlegate Antiques, 1/3 Castlegate, Newark, Notts, NG24 1A2 Tel 01636 701877 where my stock can be viewed Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm. Description
Edward Kingston Brice Rbsa born Edgbaston,Birmingham in 1860.Studied at the Birmingham School of Art.Rxhibited 'What is it?' At the Ra,1893 from a Manchester address.Also exhibited in the provinces,especially at the Royal Society,Birmingham where he showed 43 works.Elected Rbsa,1920. This sensitively painted watercolour shows a fisherman painting a float,numbered' 4 Runswick'.The model Rob Hutton may well be the Rob Hutton recorded as being born in Runswick 1819 and who died in nearby Middlesborough in 1889 or his son ,also of the same name. In the late 1880s,Runswick Bay was the site of an art colony and was much painted by the Staithes School of Artists which included the well known artists Laura Knight,Mark Senior and Frederick William Jackson.
