Kosta glasbruk was founded in 1741 and is one of the world’s oldest operating glassworks. The name Kosta was derived using the first letters from the names of the two founders of the glassworks (Anders Koskull and Georg Bogislaus Staël von Holstein). Over time Kosta became Sweden´s leading glassworks, producing a wide range of items from basic glassware to luxury art glass pieces. Vicke Lindstrand (1904-1983) worked at Kosta from 1950 to 1973 as artist director.
