Description
So here is a question; what would you do with a George III Old Sheffield Plate potato / dish ring? It is a question we asked ourselves when we found one at the start of the year. The answer we came up with and now present to you is a sewing chest or jewellery box of considerable character.
As you can see in the photographs, the Old Sheffield Plate waisted ring has been retained in its ‘as found’ condition, lined with a ruched and padded embroidered silk interior, backed onto a lovely hand dyed aqua velvet exterior. To finish the overall presentation of this regenerated antique, we have added a plug top in the same fabrics and padded the upper section with more of the velvet to provide a large pin-cushion / needle holder. Just in case you think the whole ensemble is understated, we added a light golden tone fringe to the circumference as a flourish.
