Description
These very finely potted porcelain tea cups and saucers were made by the Rathbone factory of Tunstall, Staffordshire, England between 1810-1820 during the so-called Regency era. Items have been decorated with bat printed rural scenes, one of a country house with a lake on the foreground and another of a pastoral picture showing sheep grazing on a meadow.
The cups are further enhanced with pink lustre to the rim and handle, with a silver lustre line to the inside and another outside near the base, and the saucers with pink lustre concentric circles around the scenes in the centre.
The bute shaped cups and saucers are illustrated in Ian Harvey's book "Rathbone China and Earthenware Manufacturers" 2018, along with the patterns mentioned above.
All pieces in very good antique condition. One cup with a hairline (please see photos).
