I specialise in affordable original artworks - mainly traditional watercolours and oil paintings but I also have a range of contemporary artworks including limited edition lithographic prints. I also stock a limited selection of antiques and collectables, including treen, ceramics and glass. I have now opened a shop in Wallingford (OX100BU) between Reading and Oxford, but I also trade online. My website, www.artandstuffgallery.com has a gallery section with several mini-galleries where my items are displayed, including more contemporary items not shown on LoveAntiques.

Description
Henry Martin Pope (1843-1908) is a listed painter and printmaker but now not so well known. He was born in Birmingham and studied at Birmingham School of Art. He was a founder member of the Birmingham Art Circle And lived in Kings Norton in the countryside near Birmingham. He painted landscapes and rustic subjects in oil and watercolour and exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, RBSA, RBA and RI. He was fond of views in and around Worcestershire and Warwickshire and also travelled to Wales. Henry Pope work is held in the collections of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and Kenilworth Town Council.
The inspiring vista in this piece is unidentified but we think it is probably Snowdonia in Wales, which Pope is known to have painted many times. Signed lower left.
