I specialise in affordable original artworks - mainly traditional watercolours and oil paintings but I also have a range of contemporary artworks including limited edition lithographic prints. I also stock a limited selection of antiques and collectables, including treen, ceramics and glass. I have now opened a shop in Wallingford (OX100BU) between Reading and Oxford, but I also trade online. My website, www.artandstuffgallery.com has a gallery section with several mini-galleries where my items are displayed, including more contemporary items not shown on LoveAntiques.

Description
Of local Abingdon interest! An unusual view in watercolour of "The Checker", part of the surviving medieval Abingdon Abbey buildings, by Ken Messer (1931-2018), a well known local Oxfordshire artist. The Checker was the old exchequer, or financial offices of the old Abbey. Behind it one can see the Abbey's galleried guest wing and to the right of the turret is the granary, now converted into the Unicorn Theatre. Ken Messer worked principally in watercolour and limited edition prints. Ken Messer started out in accountancy, then became a designer for Pergamon Press and turned professional artist in 1974. Signed by the artist lower left.
