This is a large 19th Century English School Victorian oil painting on canvas portrait study of terrier dogs catching a rat (1 of 2). Unsigned, artist unknown. It comes in an elaborate gilt gesso frame.

Size of frame: 30.5 x 26.75 inches Size of canvas: 24.25 x 20 inches Size of front painting aperture: 23 x 19 inches. Weight: 3.8 kg (allow 10-15 kg volumetric weight once packed).

condition
Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, craquelure, some damage to canvas with several repairs to reverse and some knocks to gesso frame but all part of its charm and character. Priced accordingly. Please DO satisfy yourself as to the condition before buying - see video. This item is obviously delicate and the gesso frame fragile. Therefore, whilst every care will be taken to pack this item extremely well, I cannot guarantee that some pieces of plaster will not become fragmented and dislodged. Please understand this before committing to buy and it will need to be understood that the buyer accepts this risk if having the item delivered by courier. No refunds will be available for this reason nor can the item be returned.
